A Year in Review

We’re lucky to have great donors and supporters behind our cause to fuel our reach around the world. Many volunteers that start out at one of Jake’s Diapers amazing packing parties – where we prep cloth diaper kits for delivery – are often blown away at all the places we reach.

We touch lives in our home base in NE Wisconsin, throughout the United States and to Puerto Rico – as well as around the world. We have no geographic limits, and we want to share just a few of the places where you helped us make an impact in 2018.

In East Africa, your donations help children living in Mama Ngnina Children’s Home. These youth are sadly often abandoned by parents due to extreme poverty situations.

In India, we’ve helped so many special needs kids through our partnership with Sarah’s Covenant Homes, and in 2018 we celebrated 5 years of working together with Sarah’s.

In Haiti, many young children face malnourishment and extreme health issues related to this, and our donations support our Diaper Drop Partner Real Hope for Haiti in nursing these kids back to health.

In Guatemala, Volcano Fuego devastated nearby communities and our Diaper Drop partner, Casa Jackson Hospital for Malnourished Children, was drastically impacted. Our wonderful supporters responded with grace and helped us lift Casa Jackson out of its dire situation to continue saving more lives.

In Uganda, we’ve started on a journey to help families with children with special needs after acquiring relationships with several Diaper Drops through the Little Bee Co.

These examples give you a great list of the widespread impact you help us create. We aren’t limited to these countries, we serve Diaper Drops no matter their location.

Because of donors like you, 4,427 children and adults received diapers in 2018. Let’s provide even more hope to more people in 2019! Consider kicking off 2019 within a generous style! We still need help supporting these families struggling with poverty, please give today.

Introducing The Hope Factory

Hope is an optimistic state of mind. We’re ready to celebrate the new year with some really exciting news… WE’VE MOVED!

It is our true honor to introduce you to the Hope Factory, our new home. It’s more than double our current space (and much much bigger than the basement where Jake’s Diapers began!) It’s an inspiring space where volunteers can congregate, share their stories, and prepare hygiene necessities to empower people to live clean, healthy, and prosperous lives.

Our new mailing address is 1775 Bohm Dr, Little Chute, WI 54140.

We have two opportunities to help the Hope Factory.

• Become a founding member of our Circle of Hope, an elite monthly giving circle supporting the Hope Factory. Circle of Hope members support the operations of the organization. They truly are the backbone of the organization.
• We also created a Warehouse Wishlist that lists some of the needs to help staff be more efficient and make volunteers more welcome.

Thank you to everyone who has volunteered planning, packing, and counting to get ready for this move! We couldn’t have come this far without you. We are so excited to offer a space that is safer, more volunteer-friendly, and can better accommodate the growth of fulfilling our mission! A special thank you to Two Men and a Truck for their outstanding help as well.

Creating Hope in Green Bay

Young, single moms are the most susceptible to poverty, according to Beth Hudak of House of Hope in Green Bay. House of Hope is one of Jake’s Diapers Diaper Drop partners and provides emergency shelter and housing stability programs for young parents experiencing homelessness and their children.

There are a number of hurdles that create a continual struggle for young, single moms, she said, including education and access to childcare, transportation, and mental health.

House of Hope works directly with its parents to overcome these barriers. For example, to address education hurdles, the organization helps parents interested in pursuing a GED with funding and access to practice tests. The case managers offer intensive life skills programming based on individual needs, and set goals decided by the parents about where they want to be — and help them get there.

“We don’t just set goals and check back in a few weeks on progress,” Beth said. “Our case managers work with them weekly to actively pursue these goals.”

In the ways House of Hope does not assist directly, they partner with local resources that provide the support their parents need.

With enough diaper supply, moms can use their minimal incomes to support their children with other essential needs – and take step by step out of poverty. We’re honored to partner with House of Hope!

New Location. New Volunteer Opportunities.

In January our volunteer schedule will go back to normal. Every Monday and Friday from 9:00 AM-10:45 AM we will have open volunteer hours at the new warehouse. Tasks will likely include organizing, counting anything that wasn’t inventoried prior to the move and wrapping sets of disposable diapers. These are open to all ages, but we do require that minors are accompanied by a parent/guardian. Learn more or sign up to volunteer with us!
