COVID-19 Volunteers: Crafty Opportunities During Stay-At-Home Times

Establishing social distancing policies changes things up for COVID-19 volunteers. With increased needs for our ongoing COVID-19 response alongside orders to stay at home and socially distance

With increased needs for our ongoing COVID-19 response alongside orders to stay at home and socially distance, we’ve had a need for hands-on volunteering while offering a unique way to safely get the job done.

Enter: home delivery for volunteer service!

“They delivered huge boxes of socks to divide up and package,” said Donna Kilsdonk, a new volunteer. “Well, I work fast and soon was asking for more to do.”

Donna also helped with marking and sort cloth diapers for distribution as well as relabeling boxes of product that had instructions in a foreign language.

Donna grandmother-in-law of our program manager, Katie Kilsdonk. She has long been inspired by the positive work Katie does with her time at Jake’s Diapers.

“Her involvement with such a good organization is catching. I wanted to help out in any way I could,” she said. “Try volunteering at Jake’s Diapers, you’ll like it!”

Before COVID-19, Donna already dedicated some of her free time to other generous causes.

“I like to bake breads and give them away to people who are busy or they need a smile or a kindness.”
