Diaper Drop: Sarah’s Covenant Homes, India!

We here at Jake’s Diapers are quite excited about our newest Diaper Drop, with Sarah’s Covenant Homes in Hyderabad, India! Sarah’s Covenant Homes is for abandoned children with special needs in India. SCH rescues abandoned children with neurological & developmental special needs and provides them with love, education, therapy, medical & surgical care, and LIFE in Jesus.

Children with developmental disabilities and neurological special needs are the most likely to be abandoned and least likely to be adopted children in India. The Lord told us, “Feed My lambs.” Sarah’s Covenant Homes accomplishes this by providing children who have been abandoned or relinquished due to special needs with love, education, therapy, medical & surgical care, and LIFE in a family-style environment.

There are three easy ways to support this cloth diaper collaboration with Sarah’s Covenant Homes:

  • Donate financial resources to Jake’s Diapers, with the memo Sarah’s Covenant Homes. We have a few cloth diaper companies that give us a very generous discount on cloth diapers we purchase; therefore this is the most effective way to make a dollar go far! Furthermore, some of the special needs children no longer fit in traditional sized cloth diapers, and we have been blessed with the resources to have appropriately sized diapers made for each child.
    • To donate via Paypal, click here!
    • Donations can also be mailed to Jake’s Diapers, 1079 Day St., Greenleaf, WI 54126
    • All donations are tax deductible.
  • If you prefer to purchase and donate cloth diapers, two simple ways to help us get cloth diapers are:
    • We are a Partner in Change with The Little Bee Co., a family run cloth diaper business. For every diaper purchased from our wishlists for donation to Jake’s Diapers, The Little Bee Co. matches with an identical diaper! How awesome is that! This partnership has resulted in hundreds & hundreds of cloth diapers going to babies in need!  You can find our wishlistfor Sarah’s Covenant Homes here: Jake’s Diapers & Sarah’s Covenant Homes WishlistDid you know that if you buy six diapers, they will also give a seventh one free? (So, if you gather some friends and buy seven diapers for the price of six, then fourteen are donated to Jake’s Diapers! 7 from you, 7 from the match!).
    • Gen-Y Cloth Diapers is another small, Mom-owned business that has been so helpful to us! Not only has Gen-Y donated hundreds & hundreds of cloth diaper covers to us, but they also give us a discount for supplies we purchase directly from them! We love Gen-Y gift certificates! If you’d like to purchase one for donation to Jake’s Diapers, you can by clicking here: Gen-Y Gift Certificates. You can choose to have the gift certificate e-mailed or in the postal mail Our e-mail address is [email protected]; and our mailing address is 1079 Day St. Greenleaf, WI 54126.
  • If you have cloth diapers to donate, including those in need of a little love & refreshing (elastics, snaps), you can mail them to us at Jake’s Diapers, 1079 Day St., Greenleaf, WI 54126. We then match them up with other similar cloth diapers, and match them up with those in need!

If you would like to sponsor cloth diapers for a specific child, below are children in need of sponsors! Complete cloth diaper sponsorship is $100, just put the name of the child in the memo as you make your donation. Partial sponsorships & group sponsorships are also welcome!

Cedar

Cedar is 6 years old and is blind and has autism. He was abandoned, then rescued, and now lives in a foster home at Sarah’s Covenant Homes in India. His favorite thing to do is play in the water. Before, he didn’t know how to play with toys, but now he is becoming more curious and has several toys that he enjoys. He learned how to walk this past summer!

Charlotte

Charlotte is 1 1/2 years old and is blind. She came to Sarah’s Covenant Homes from the government orphanage in September as a scared, neglected little baby. Now she is blossoming! Where before she would just sleep and cry all day, now she is walking with support, making lots of sounds, and playing with toys! She loves going to her Gymboree class once a week and being cuddled.

Many thanks to Diapers for Orphans, organized by Sandi of Victoria, Canada! Their diaper collection efforts are providing cloth diapers for Charlotte (along with many other precious little ones who haven’t yet outgrown traditional sized cloth diapers!).

Chloe

Chloe is 3 years old and is blind and has autism. She was abandoned, then rescued, and now lives in a foster home at Sarah’s Covenant Homes in India. She learned how to walk a few months ago. She is non-verbal, but just learned her first sign and is able to use it to request a drink of water!

Dinah

Dinah is 6 years old and has cerebral palsy. She was abandoned, then rescued, and now lives in a foster family at Sarah’s Covenant Homes in India. She learned how to walk and how to feed herself this year! She likes playing on the slide and rolling a ball. Now that she knows how to walk, she is always busy, busy, busy exploring everything and moving around!

Jasmine

Jasmine is 7 years old and is blind and autistic. She was abandoned, then rescued. She now lives in a foster family at Sarah’s Covenant Homes in Hyderabad, India. She learned how to walk this year and loves playing in the water, listening to music, and swinging on the hammock. She likes being funny and silly!

LouiseLouise is 3 years old and is deaf and has a cochlear implant. She came to our foster home at Sarah’s Covenant Homes after the government orphanage she was living in discovered she was deaf. They didn’t have the resources to provide her with her cochlear implant surgery and follow up auditory verbal therapy, and we are so thankful that she came into our arms! Since coming to us, Louise joined preschool and is starting to make so many new sounds. We know she will be talking soon! She can now make eye contact and is beginning to form attachments with her foster mothers. She is joyful and silly! We are working on potty training Louise, but for now, we are needing cloth diapers for when she is in school and when she is sleeping.

Molly

Molly is 7 years old and has cerebral palsy. She was abandoned, then rescued, and now lives with a foster family at Sarah’s Covenant Homes, India. She is not yet able to sit on her own, but is able to move across the floor on her stomach. She has a wheelchair and attends a special education school. Molly is very bright and is learning to read sight words and already mastered spelling her name!
