Raising young children without a support network nearby is a difficult and often overwhelming challenge. Add to that the turbulence of 2020, and it would be no surprise for many to admit to complete burn out.

This Giving Tuesday, Jake’s celebrates one of its partners, Family Services NEW and its Early Head Start program for maintaining focus on supporting parents through this bumpy ride.

“Early Head Start focuses on the strengths, values, and positives within each individual family that we serve,” said Sandy Pantzlaff of Family Services. “We have a strong focus on the family unit and on parents being their child’s first teacher and most important advocate. The Early Head Start families have shown commitment and perseverance to overcome many challenges. With our support, families are finding joy in the smaller moments spent with their child.”

The program shifted many of its services to virtual amidst the pandemic, and Sandy said the organization is impressed by the parents commitment to show up and participate.

“Logging onto a virtual platform with a child under three years of age is not any easy task, and our families continue to do so week after week,” she said. “We are grateful to all of our families that engage in activities each week that continue to focus on supporting their child in their development.”

Many of the families participating in this program also receive direct support from Jake’s, with regular diaper pack distributions.

“We have been truly fortunate to be a recipient of donations each month from the Jake’s Diapers Organization,” Sandy said. “This has undoubtedly alleviated some stress that our families are often feeling when wondering how they will meet some of their most basic needs. In Brown County, the Early Head Start program serves up to 60 families and all of those families are able to receive diapers they need to meet the basic needs of their children. With the help of Jake’s Diapers, families are able to take away some of the costs of diapers for their child and put it towards another basic need they might have.”
