Jump for Jake’s: A Family Fun Event Solving Diaper Need for Wisconsin Veterans
Kaukauna, WI- Jake’s Diapers, a non-profit cloth diaper bank, is proud to announce Jump for Jake’s: A Family Fun Event to be held Wednesday, June 15th at The Learning Shop, 4705 W. College Ave, Appleton, from 10 am to 2 pm.
Jump for Jake’s will feature Fun Pros’ inflatable bounce-houses, outdoor play on Rainbow Play Systems, crafts and more with the Learning Shop, and so much more! Funds raised at Jump for Jake’s will go to support an innovative collaboration between the Center for Suicide Awareness and Jake’s Diapers: providing cloth diapers to Veterans and their families here in Wisconsin. Sadly, there are local veterans suffering from PTSD and other traumatic illnesses; in addition to being impacted by suicide. These veterans are suffering, and unable to meet the basic needs of their babies.
Cloth diapers are an option to solving diaper need. Disposable diapers can be costly, $1500 or more to diaper a baby from birth to potty training. For Jake’s Diapers, the cost to provide a complete set of cloth diapers to a baby in need is just $231, a considerable savings both economically and environmentally compared to disposable diapers. It’s important to note each baby in disposable diapers generates one ton of garbage that takes over 300 years to decompose, and diapers account for 15% of the waste in our landfills.
This is an event you surely don’t want to miss! Pack a picnic lunch, and make this a fun family outing! There will be a concession stand available with a bake sale! Tickets are $10/child, or $25 family for unlimited fun. Just-A-Jump tickets are $3 apiece. Come on out and Jump for Jake’s, and help our local veterans in need!
