California Wildfire Relief

Northwest of Sacramento, over 85,000 acres have burned in the Pawnee & County Fires. Sadly, these events signify an early start to this year’s wildfire season. Thanks to supporters of Jake’s Diapers, we were able to promptly respond to these natural disasters.

We worked with Cara, pictured above with her daughter, who distributed diapers to the Spring Valley Moose Lodge, the drop point for supplies for fire evacuees. Diapers tend to be a basic, yet overlooked need in these types of situations. We feel very fortunate to help California families!

Mexico Earthquake: Helping Survivors Almost One Year Later

The one-year anniversary of the earthquake that shook Mexico is coming up this September. Hundreds were killed and over 6,000 were injured as a result.

Jake’s Diapers has partnered with a network of missionaries and churches in Mexico to help Mexico City, Morelos and Puebla residents who lost their homes, jobs, and in some cases, loved ones, due to the devastation from the 7.1M earthquake. Unfortunately, many families are still in dire need of basic living supplies.

We’re happy to share that because of the generosity from our donors and time from our volunteers, more than 200 families will receive a complete supply of cloth diapers to last baby from birth to potty training during these troubled times. Together, we’re helping build a new foundation for these families because when you diaper a child, you create dignity and independence for the parent. It’s something we’re proud to be a part of and you should be proud too! We can’t wait to report back about the impact during the months ahead.

Real Hope For Haiti

The Rescue Center at Real Hope for Haiti cares for up to 50 babies of diapering age. These children are recovering from extreme malnutrition and other medical challenges. When they “graduate” and return home, families often lack basic diapering resources, which sometimes leads to other complications. We are currently accepting donations to help ease the transition for mothers and babies when they return home. Providing diapers mean families can afford better health care, schooling, improved quality of food – all steps that set these babies up for long-term survival and bright futures.

Our Recent Graduates

Jake’s Diapers is thrilled to congratulate Katie Kilsdonk, Program Manager, and Nicole Rayos, Content Marketing Manager, on successfully completing GlobalGiving’s 2018 Social Impact Academy. This academy explores different theories of impact measurement, practical tools, and resources and uses that information to design programs for social change, measure impact, engage audiences, and tell a stronger impact story.

Only a small number of applicants are accepted to this program and we’re honored that Katie and Nicole represented Jake’s Diapers this year. We appreciate their thoughtful engagement and hard work during the six-week course and we are grateful for their passion to learn more!
