Helping our Veterans: Diaper Drop with the Center for Suicide Awareness

My heart hurts.  We have a new Diaper Drop, one which brings me to tears: providing cloth diapers to the babies of our local veterans. These veterans have risked their lives for our country and freedom, and are survivors of varied illnesses including PTSD. And they find themselves having to choose between food & diapers.

I find hope and refuge in Matthew 11:28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

We here at Jake’s Diapers find hope, because we are called to do something about this. We are called to help provide rest to these veterans, in two ways.

The first is through provision of cloth diapers, a complete set to cover the babies from birth to potty training. Each set costs $231, and saves over $2,000 per baby, as well as keeps 1 ton of garbage out of our landfills. The Center for Suicide Awareness has a yearly need of ~40 kits. This means to help those who serve our country, to protect our freedom, we need to raise $9240.

The second opportunity is we are launching a funding campaign to create the Sewing Sanctuary, part of our very own professional office space! What makes the Sewing Sanctuary unique is it is an inspiring place of refuge for volunteers of all abilities to gather to support the life-changing work of Jake’s Diapers: providing modern cloth diapers to those in babies, children & adults in need, whose caregivers have to choose between food & diapers.

This means that volunteers can find purpose, refuge, and healing through the purpose of helping babies in need. It is well known that creativity and inspiration can help heal trauma. This partnership is a true blessing, and with your help and support, will become a reality. The cost to complete this vision is $10,000, and will positively impact lives locally, nationally, and globally.

To accomplish these visions, Jake’s Diapers needs your help. We ask you to prayerfully consider how you can partner with us. While we recognize not everyone can contribute financially, each of you can help via prayer or perhaps sharing our story, or even launching your own crowd funding campaign in support of Jake’s Diapers. All donations are tax-deductible.
