Understanding Jake’s: We’re Still Doing Diapers, and So Much More

Yet, we want to emphasize that there is so much more to Jake’s than that. That’s why we officially changed our name to Jake’s Network of Hope in 2022, to align with our programs that serve many diverse needs.

Let’s start with our most diverse basic needs program, My Neighbor Wisconsin and the Hope Hub resource center. This program was established in 2019 based on demand to provide even more basic living goods to people in need in our community, at the request of numerous partner agencies. The goal of this program is to provide for other needs that community partners are serving, while creating financial savings for our partners which in turn creates a revenue stream that supports our hygiene programs.

This program is important because it amplifies the impact we have on our community. As stated by one partner agency, “Jake’s allowed us to help three times as many families through the Adopt-A-Family program. We are so very grateful to Jake’s and this program. I will share this with everyone I know to be sure nonprofits are aware of this gem in our community.”

Our partners are 501c3, school- and faith-based organizations. There are many types of partners we serve, and you may have seen us share stories about these groups over the holidays. These groups are serving needs in the community such as foster programs, school-aged Programs, pregnancy centers, refugees and world relief, food pantries, clothing programs and more.

Today, we want to highlight the most diverse subset of these partner types: those organizations that are so unique we simply group them as Speciality and Miscellaneous missions.

While there are many more partners than these, here are 5 unique causes that we partner with to give you an idea.

  • Children’s Cancer Family Foundation: Our mission is to serve families as they travel the difficult path of a pediatric cancer diagnosis by providing financial assistance as well as opportunities to participate in fun, free events as a family.
  • Fox Cities Act Of Kindness: Our mission is to inspire hope for families and/or individuals by building a community of support and providing tools and means to manage the challenges that they have or are facing.
  • Make-A-Wish Wisconsin: Together, we create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.
  • Sleep in Heavenly Peace: If a child needs a bed, we want to make sure they get one. No kid sleeps on the floor in our town!

What else does Jake’s do? We focus on diverse hygiene needs, too.

Our Wisconsin-serving hygiene programs meet the needs of all ages to stay clean, dry and healthy.

Eastern WI Diaper Bank 1 in 3 families experience diaper need. Infants require up to 12 diapers per day, toddlers about 8. Most childcare centers, even free and subsidized facilities, require parents to provide a day’s supply of disposable diapers. We are driven to ensure every baby has the diapers he or she needs to stay clean, dry and healthy and that parents can send children to daycare, to continue work or pursue higher education.

A.C.E. 1 in 3 adults are dealing with some form of bladder control issues today, and 2 in 3 people will have incontinence during their lifetimes. There’s a social stigma around the issue, adding to the difficulty in dealing with it. Our program provides products needed so individuals can face the world with confidence.

On the Dot Lack of period supplies is among the top reasons low income girls miss school. Our On The Dot Program provides dignity for girls and women through equality and access to period products. These are essential tools to keep girls and women in school, at work and participating in society when they cannot otherwise obtain period products on their own.
