Oneida Emergency Food Pantry Works to Support Increased Pantry Visits

Yet another community is searching for ways to do more: The Oneida Emergency Food Pantry cited a significant increase in visitors to pantry as cause for requesting more product via its partnership with Jake’s.

The Oneida Emergency Food Pantry has partnered with Jake’s Network of Hope to help stock the pantry with items such as books, toys, wipes, and adult diapers.

“We try to stay stocked with the most variety of product sizes and some sizes go faster than others,” said Marlon Skenandore, of the pantry. “We will have clients that come in but we are out of those specific size products. It’s disheartening to them so you know it’s making a difference.”

The Oneida Emergency Food Pantry is a unique service to the Oneida Nation. The Pantry opened its doors January 2017 to service Community members in need of emergency food help.

The pantry’s mission is to provide the Oneida Community access to nutritious food when in need, increase self-sufficiency and collaborate to strengthen the Oneida community integrated food system, and with this mission the program has  seen tremendous growth since opening, serving close to 1,000 families since opening.

“The impact we have on people’s lives is unbelievable,” Marlon said.” We try to stay stocked with a variety of product sizes and some sizes go faster than others. We will have clients that come in but we are out of those specific size products. It’s disheartening to them so you know it’s making a difference.”

Jake’s is proud to be partnered with The Oneida Emergency Food Pantry to help individuals live clean, healthy and active lives and to help individuals feel a sense of dignity.
