Project Update: Give Women & Girls Dignity, Period

During 2018, Jake’s Diapers made a lot of exciting shifts to continue supporting individuals impacted by poverty around the world.

While we started our foundation focused on helping babies have enough diapers, it didn’t take long for us to realize that hygiene needs, in general, create additional barriers for people in poverty.

With this in mind, we’ve reframed our mission statement to encompass the broader reach of our impact: At Jake’s Diapers, we aim to revolutionize global health with community-driven efforts to provide hygiene necessities that empower people to live clean, healthy and prosperous lives.

This has included launching Period Product pilot projects to support menstruation needs of those who otherwise cannot afford necessary products. Individuals struggling to purchase pads, tampons and other needs each month may instead choose to skip work or school to avoid embarrassment and for other reasons.

We can’t have that!

Here’s our impact by the numbers in the first year of this program:

  • 15,120 disposable period products donated to those impacted by Hurricane Florence
  • 260 cloth period products donated to those impacted by Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico
  • 782 women served between the two efforts

We hope you can help us grow this change in 2019!
